Verse of the Day

far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. Ephesians 1:21 (NASB)

Today’s Verse
Ephesians is sometimes referred to as a ‘mountaintop’ book, full of wonderful truths, both about God Himself and who we are in Him. Chapter one talks about God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

The Father’s gracious promises towards His children and the surpassing greatness of His mighty power towards all who believe in Him, is the confident hope that we have in Christ Jesus our Lord, which was accomplished when God raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand on heaven’s glorious throne.

Christ’s position and power is far about every creature and all that has ever been created, far more excellent than all angelic beings or every mortal man, far superior to all principalities and power, all rulers and princes, all might and dominions, all that is visible and invisible, all that was, and is, and is to come.

The Holy Spirit is given to every believer as a seal: “A deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession, to the praise of his glory.”

There is no authority in heaven above, or in the earth below, nor in the waters that are beneath the firmament, that can rival the sovereignty that God commands. There is no other name but the name of Jesus before which every knee will one day bow in homage. There is no world, or time, or space that is beyond the reach of His supreme greatness. There is no length, or breadth, or depth, or height that can match His eternal glory.

His power is: “Far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.”

This is Jesus our Saviour Who took our punishment of the Cross so that we all who believe on Him would not perish but have eternal life. Let us praise His name in this present age and keep on praising Him in the age to come.

My Prayer
Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You, that the Lord Jesus Christ has all power and authority over all that was, and is, and is to come. Give me a deeper understanding of what Christ has done, and may I worship in grateful thanks, from this day forward. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
