Verse of the Day

To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy — to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen. —Jude 1:24-25

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

What a great cluster of truths Jude provides us! Our eyes are first drawn to what God can do for us — prevent us from falling and present us before his glorious presence in joyful perfection. On closer inspection, our hearts are also drawn to the description of our incredible God: the one who is able, the only God, our Savior, who lives in glory, majesty, and power. God is the one true authority who has communicated to us through Jesus, who existed before all ages, is alive now, and will always be. Our blessings as God’s children are incredible, but they are because our God is beyond incredible; he is gloriously extraordinary, wonderfully gracious, and indescribably holy. Our words cannot do him justice. Our brightest insights cannot comprehend his glory. Yet despite his grandeur, God loves you and me in our finite and flawed mortality!

My Prayer…

Awesome and Holy Lord, Most High God, thank you for being Almighty God, and also tenderly loving me and showing yourself to me in the life and ministry of Jesus. I look forward to standing in your presence, enjoying your perfection, and praising you in the presence of the glorious angels. Please accept my human praise until my words are unchained from their mortality and my imperfections are swallowed up in your glory. Amen.

  1. Jude 1:24-25
To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

Jude closes this book of the Bible with a beautiful blessing. To Him who is able; Christ is able in many things. He is able to save (Heb.7:25), able to bring everything under His control (Philippians 3:21), and able to help us when tempted (Heb. 2:18). Here we are told that He is able to keep us from stumbling. In light of all that we know of His power through Scripture, we can rest assured that He is fully capable to keep us from stumbling in our lives for Him when we listen to the guidance and leading of His Word. This is so precious to every child of God! We are not expected to live this life on our own power, for we cannot. A life that is lived for Christ has got to be done through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. When we surrender to Him and are sensitive to His guidance, our lives will be victorious for Christ.

And not only will He keep us from stumbling, He will present us to God the Father without fault. How glorious is this! You and I know how unworthy of God’s love we truly are outside of Christ. It is only through His saving grace that we can be presented to God and stand faultless before Him because of the blood of Christ that cleanses and covers all our sin. Jesus has redeemed us and made us worthy to be in the very presence of God!

Not only does He present us to God, but He does so with great joy. Oh, how I love this! Jesus doesn’t sneak us in the back door of heaven, nope, He brings us right into the throne room and presents us with GREAT JOY! When we trusted in Christ as our Lord and Savior we are told in Scripture that all heaven rejoices (Luke 15:10). And so it still goes on that Christ joyfully presents us to God, what a day this will be! What grace we are given all because of our loving and merciful God.

He is not only our Keeper and Perfecter – He is God our Savior. I will never fully understand, this side of heaven, why God would even want a relationship with mankind. But I am so very glad that He does and that He sent His one and only Son to this earth to bleed and die for us so that we can spend eternity with Him. Indeed He is GOD our SAVIOR!
He alone is majestic and worthy of glory, praise, and worship. He is our final Authority, He is our power, He is our everything both now and forevermore. PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!

Father God, I bow before You Abba with thanksgiving for all that You have done for me. Without You I am nothing, but through Christ I am Your dearly loved child! My heart just bubbles over with praise to You for Your great love and mercy. I love You so and give You all glory, honor and praise this day, AMEN!
