Verse of the Day

I can do everything through him who gives me strength. —Philippians 4:13

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

What’s the basis of our happiness? If it’s our outward circumstances, we’re all in trouble because sooner or later, these aren’t going to be too good. Paul said he had learned the secret to living above life’s circumstances. That secret was Jesus Christ. Jesus was his assurance that no matter how difficult our problems might be, they were not permanent. No matter how hard life was, Jesus would give him the strength to persevere. Paul is just as sure that Jesus will do this for you and me!

My Prayer…

God of glory and might, thank you for the stories of your great power in the Bible. They give me courage and hope when I face my problems. I believe Jesus can deliver me, sustain me, and uphold me through my difficulties today. Please forgive me for those times when I didn’t turn to you and honestly talk to you about my struggles. O Lord, I need the strength, the comfort, and the presence of Christ today. In the name of my Savior Jesus, I pray. Amen.

  1. Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Paul is letting the church at Philippi know that even though he has been through many struggles for standing for Christ, he can do these things because it is Christ who strengthens him.

The very same holds true for every child of God today. When we are living our lives in accordance with His will for us there is nothing that He will call us to do that He will not give us the strength and ability to carry out. It is our part to trust God and step out in faith to do those things that He desires for us to accomplish.
This is yet another reason why it is crucial to be in communication with God on a daily basis so that He can speak to us through His Word and through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

When we read and study God’s Word each day, we are taking in nourishment for our spirit. I remember years ago I had to have a fairly major surgery. It took me several weeks to gain my strength back because I had a difficult time eating enough food to get my blood levels back to normal. But, after what seemed like a long time, the consistent nourishment of the food I was eating brought my physical strength back and my life returned to normal.
Taking in the necessary spiritual nourishment of God’s Word has the very same effect on our spiritual strength to know and feel God’s power in our lives! When I study and take in His Word I am given much strength by God to carry out everything that He desires of me each day.

God has promised to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5) and that should give us peace in our circumstances knowing that He is right there with us every step of the way!

So, what has God called you to do today? Whatever it is, know that He has already given you all that you need to carry out His plan for your life! Step out in faith and watch how He goes to work through you!

Father God, thank You for Your faithfulness to me. Even though I fail You many times, You have never left me. I love You so and am looking forward to all that You have planned for my life. Help me to recognize Your will in every situation, for Your glory Abba, Amen!
