Verse of the Day

If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. —Romans 14:8

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

We are the Lord‘s. He bought us out of bondage to sin and death. We have voluntarily placed our lives in his hands. No matter what we do or where we go, his grace goes with us. He has promised to never leave us. He has assured us that nothing can separate us from his love. So let’s live with a sense of excited anticipation, looking to see where the Lord will lead us. Let us face difficulty, and even death, with the assurance that we will not face tough times alone. Even in the shadow of death, we don’t have to fear what the evil can do. We are the Lord‘s.

My Prayer…

Father, thank you for sending your Son to redeem me. Lord Jesus, thank you for coming to earth, paying the price for my sin, and sending the Holy Spirit to be your presence in me. Take my life and use it to your glory. May my faith not fail in the face of life’s worst challenges. I pray that whether I live or I die that you be glorified in me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

  1. Romans 14:8
If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

When we belong to God through faith in the blood of Christ, His lordship comes to every aspect of our life. We do not live for ourselves any longer, but for Christ. Everything we do should be in subjection to His approval, for He is the supreme authority to us. When we read His Word the Bible we know what pleases Him and what is in disobedience to Him. God didn’t leave us guessing on how He desires for us to live our lives. We have His entire Word to give us guidance daily, and His indwelling Holy Spirit that enables us to live in obedience to Him.
We have nothing to fear in life or death, for He is Lord of both. This gives every child of God great comfort. To know that He will never leave me, even when my time to leave this world comes. Death has no hold on us, for Christ has defeated spiritual death at the cross and nothing can ever separate us from the love of God that is ours through Jesus Christ (Romans 8:38-39). We who belong to God are sealed in Him through the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 1:21-22), and nothing can break God’s seal!

What a glorious position we have through the Lord Jesus. How can we do anything other than praise and worship Him daily for all that He has done for us out of His great and abiding love. A love we certainly did not deserve, but that He gave freely to all who accept His free gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9).

    Philippians 1:21
For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Thank You Jesus for going to the cross and defeating sin, death, and hell for all those who will place their faith in Your bloodshed for the forgiveness of their sins. Help me to live my life with a thankful and grateful heart towards You for all that You have accomplished on my behalf at the cross. I love You so my King of Kings and Lord of Lords, I give You praise this day, Amen!
