John 14:30

John 14:30 New King James Version

I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.

The ruler of this world is Satan, the prince of the power of the air. Satan dominates the airwaves, and the atmosphere. He influences our thoughts and beliefs and rules over the hearts of men who do wickedness.

The enemy of our soul has power to attack us, but it is limited in accordance with God’s will. The devil dwells in darkness and that is the perimeter of His territory.   If we choose or allow sin in our lives we ourselves move toward and sometimes into the darkness where Satan has access to us.   In that moment of pride, unforgiveness, resentment or anything that is not of the Lord is the moment we step into the enemy’s realm where we are subject to his attack.

1 John 1:5-7 ESV

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

It is very simple….. to walk in the light is to walk in God’s Kingdom……………to walk in darkness is to enter into Satan’s domain.

Jesus is saying that He Himself has no issues that belong in darkness.  There is nothing that Satan can taunt Him with or manipulate Him to do or cause Him to crack under the oppression of guilt or shame.

Our beliefs can be influenced by the ruler of the world and we must submit ourselves to God completely and with all abandon.  This is a very difficult thing to do and will cause us to push against the worldly norm, but God is not looking for those who will acquiesce to the world’s standards.  He is looking for those who will not bow to the demands of this world.

Romans 12:2 New King James Version

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

It is up to us individually to bare our heart before the Lord and ask Him to show us what we need changed within.

Challenge:   Ask God to reveal things within you that need to change and then surrender to Him willingly and ask Him to change those things.  It is a long and painful process, but the freedom at the end is well worth it.

God bless,
