Verse of the Day

I call to God, and the LORD saves me. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.

Psalm 55:16-17

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

Wow, this Psalm of confidence in God suddenly has a much more powerful ring to it after remembering the resurrection of Christ! God does save us. God does listen to our voices. We can be sure he both hears and acts to bring salvation for us. The only question is whether we call out to God evening, morning, and noon trusting his response.

My Prayer…

Abba Father, I have burdens on my heart about things in my own life that need your grace and power. Please hear my voice and my heart as I share these concerns with you…(Feel free to share your personal concerns today at this point in our prayer.) In addition, dear Father, please place your loving touch on the following people for whom I’m concerned… Thank you for hearing me. Thank you for saving me. Thank you for caring about those for whom I am concerned. In the name of Christ Jesus, my Savior, I pray. Amen.

  1. There are problems or trials in our life that are so overwhelming, and in the midst of them, we feel devastated. We need to trust the Lord, for the Holy Spirit is always with us, He give us strength to our lives daily. If we let Him to help us, He is the One who lead us to seek the Lord in prayer and do it until…
This reminds me of the passage in the Bible, in 1 Samuel 1 when Hannah, prophet Samuel’s Mom. Hannah was one of the wives of Elkanah, and the other was Peninnah, who had children but not Hannah. Peninnah kept provoking her in order to irritate Hannah. This situation happened for many years, making Hannah feel so sad. After many years asking the Lord for the blessing of motherhood, Hannah came to the place of worship with her husband, and she decided to cry to the Lord.

When she was praying to the Lord, Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. She was in a very deep spiritual pain. The priest Eli thought she was drunk. And she said to him: “Not so, my lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD. Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.” (1 Samuel 1:15-16) And the Lord answered to her prayer and became pregnant, gave a birth to a child that called Samuel.

David whom wrote this Psalms 55 is facing enemies that are accusing him, making oppression over him and persecuting him. He is in great distress, that sometimes feel death close to him, but this is not the cause why he felt so devastated, his enemy is a person so close to Him.
David knows from past experiences where to go, and He said: “As for me l will call upon God.” The severity of the problem make him feel the need to seek the presence of the Lord in an intensive way, and pray over the situation three times a day, morning, noon and evening. It doesn’t say how many days, but l believe it was several days, until the Lord answered him and delivered from his enemies.
The Lord is faithful, and He cares for His people, for the one who love Him. He rewards those who trust Him. Wait and trust. We trust in the Great I Am, there is nothing impossible for Him. And the period of time that we need to pray over a situation vary. I have been praying over a situation for a whole night, a whole day, three times a day for a week, for a month, forty days, for years, and l know that the Lord listen and answers. So many things had happened during those times, all things work together for good, so many different experiences like revelations, transformation, but above all, no matter the situation, the experience of His love, mercy and faithfulness. He is our Savior, our Helper, our Defender, our strength, our peace, the keeper and lover of our soul. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
