Divine Authority
The Bible is the only book that God has given to man. Scripture is the sole authority on which our faith is founded and the singular guide to instruct us in our practical living. For the one who has placed their trust in Jesus for salvation, and rested their eternal destiny on His finished work at Calvary, the Bible is the divine authority, upon which our lives should be founded.
Singular Sufficiency
For those who have trusted Jesus as Saviour, Scripture is singularly sufficient for all we need to live as God requires. It is the only sufficient tool we need as we address all the important issues of life, in a manner well-pleasing to Him: emotional issues; relational issues; family issues; social issues and spiritual issues.
Worldly Hostility
We live in a fallen world that is at enmity with God, and hostile to the truth of His Word and the gospel of Christ. Religious rituals and deceptive doctrines have flooded the Church and an empty trust in our own good works, has flooded Christendom. But for those who have broken free from the bondage of man-made rules, and trust in Christ’s finished work alone, discover the Bible to be their sole Source of divine authority and the singular sufficiency for every aspect of their Christian life.
Changed Destiny
The moment we trusted Christ as our Saviour our destiny changed from hell to heaven. Our situation changed from walking in darkness to living i light. Our position changed from being in Adam to being in Christ and our identity changed from being a child of wrath to a child of God. Instead of experiencing eternal death and separation from God we are given eternal life, which can never be lost, left, forfeited or removed – and it is all by His grace and power, and for His greater glory.
Enemy of the Soul
It is always wise to remember we live in a fallen world, knowing that the enemy of our soul is ever present in every aspect of life, and is seeking to devour our testimony, which renders the authoritative text of Scripture and its singular sufficiency, increasingly precious. God did not remove us to heaven the moment we believed, but left us in a hostile environment for a greater purpose: He has a plan for each life.
Journey Thru Life
Just as God had a plan for our salvation so He has a life-plan for each of us. Just as we trusted Him to save us, so we must trust His singular sufficiency and heed the instructions of Scripture. Indeed to understand God’s plan for our live, we need to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest the Word, for we live in a world which is no friend to Jesus, the enemy of God and antagonistic towards His children – but His grace is sufficient.
Eternal Perspective
And so we are reminded that in this world there will be trials and suffering, but Scripture urges us to view the trials of life in light of God’s wider plan of His great salvation, in the eternal ages to come. We should view life from an eternal perspective and live a life that result in practical sanctification – so that we grow spiritually as we walk with the Lord, and become more and more like Him.
Respond Not React
In the light of our present trials we need to respond wisely rather that to react emotionally, remembering that we are strangers and pilgrims, and that this world is not our home. We should respond to life’s trials as instructed by God, and keep away from worldly desires that wage war against our very souls.
Available Resources
Never forget that we have gained the victory by virtue of our co-crucifixion and co-resurrection with Christ. We have the indwelling Holy Spirit and the Word of God to ensure our spiritual victory, if we will but yield to Him, walk by faith and appropriate all that God has provided, so that we can: abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.
A Telling Testimony
When our inner being relies on God’s sole divine authority and His singular sufficiency, our outward actions manifest honourable conduct in every area of our lives. Peter urges us: as aliens and strangers, abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. We have been saved by grace and should live by grace. Let us be a reflection of Christ, so that the testimony of our lives is so beautiful and honourable, that all who witness our walk, desire to discover the Source of our gracious lives.

19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Jeremiah 33
33 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
2 Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name;
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
4 For thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;
5 They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.
6 Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.
7 And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.
8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.
9 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.

24 Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the Lord hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

59 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.
3 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.
4 They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.
5 Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.

10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.
12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
14 And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
15 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.
16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
