A Rightly Divided Heavens

HIS KINGDOM RULES OVER ALL – PSALM 103:19

Heavenly and Earthly
How important it is for the believer to rightly divide the Word of truth. To rightly divide the gospel of God is to know how to live in Christ. To rightly divide the creations He made is to know who we are in Christ.  And there’s one area of division that many Christians have overlooked – Heavenly and earthly promises that link with heavenly and earthly dominions. Rulership in the heavens is one domain and rulership on the earth is another.

Created to Rule
God created Adam to rule the earth through the guidance of God in heaven: let us make man in Our image to have dominion over the works of our hands. Genesis 1:26 God created Adam to govern the earth through the guidance of the most-high God. Earthly man was to govern the earth through God’s heavenly sovereignty, for the Lord prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom rules over all. Psalm 103:19

Usurped Governance
But Adam handed his reins of governance to a spiritual entity – a rebellious angel. That crooked serpent called the devil and Satan, usurped governance of the earth. The prince of the power of the air, the god of this age, rules with devastating results.

Times of the Gentiles
But God created Israel to circumnavigate Satan’s rule and teach the nations of God. They were to inherit an earthly kingdom as numerous as the sand on the sea-shore, and they were to inherit a heavenly kingdom, as many as the stars in the heavens. But that one nation that was chosen to be His witnesses also disobeyed the Lord their God. So God allowed the times of the Gentiles to demonstrate man’s inability to rule – from the time of Nebuchadnezzar God has permitted illegal dominion over the earth – the times of the gentiles.

Satanic Kingdom
God is allowing this satanic control of the heavens over the earth for the present time, until that time when He will set His Own Anointed upon His holy hill of Zion. God uses this satanic control of the heavens over the earth to forward His plans. God is permitting Satan to dominate the earthly rule through his satanic kingdom: that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will, and setteth over it the basest of men. Daniel 3:17 For the kingdom of God is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation. Daniel 4:3

Christ’s Kingdom
2000 years ago Christ came to set up His kingdom but was rejected and crucified. Christ must secure the heavenly kingdom before setting up His earthly rule. My kingdom is not of this world, He proclaimed– (this world system) If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm. John 18:36

Kingdom of Men
Christ must secure the heavenly kingdom before setting up His earthly rule, and so the heavenly rule was taken from Israel. We read in Matthew, Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit. Matthew 21:43.. so that God’s promise to Abraham.. of Israel’s earthly rule, would be realised. Christ is soon to return and the usurper will be thrown into the bottomless pit – and the Most High continues to rule in the kingdom of men and giveth it to whomsoever He will. Daniel 4:32

Heavenly Sovereignty
When Adam forfeited his God-given dominion, God set a guard over the tree of life. God set a guard over the tree of life until man could resume his role as king – until His Man, (the Man Christ Jesus) would govern the earth through God’s heavenly sovereignty. And God implemented His glorious plan of redemption and man’s glorification.. a plan started in eternity past; a plan that is ongoing through eternity to come.

Transfer of Power
How important it is to understand this transfer of power in the Word of God. How important for the believer to rightly divide heavenly and earthly promises. How important for Christians to rightly divide heavenly and earthly sovereignty.

Submissive Obedience
Adam was to govern the earthly realm through God’s guidance in the heavenly realm. Later Israel was created to teach the nations the goodness of God. Israel was to demonstrate man living in submission to God – a son obedient to his Father. But Adam failed and Israel failed so God sent His anointed Son into the world. So God sent His Son to live and die in obedience to the Father as an example to man – an example of how man is to live in willing submissive obedience to the Father.

King of Kings
Christ will soon return to rule the earth as God intended – man in submission to God. This will be the time when the earth is filled with the glory of God; a time when the lion will lie down with the lamb; a time when Christ is set on God’s holy hill of Zion as Lord of lords; a time when His people Israel will be the head of the nations and not the tail; a time when Satan is bound for a thousand years and Jesus Christ is King of kings.

Christ Will Rule
This will be a time when Christ will rule from his throne in the heavenly Jerusalem; a time when Christ will rule the earth from his throne in the earthly Jerusalem;  a time when the bride of Christ will rule and reign with Christ, with a rod of iron; a time when the earth is filled with the glory of God as the waters cover the sea. How important it is for the believer to rightly divide the Word of truth.

1 John 3-4

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

1 John 4

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

19 We love him, because he first loved us.

20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
