Sublime Expression
No other New Testament phrase occurs with greater frequency than “In Christ” No other more vital, biblical formula is so often presented as being “In Christ.” Sometimes it is BY Him, sometimes THROUGH Him or WITH Him or IN Him, but the intrinsic meaning of this glorious phrase – is His all-inclusiveness. Two hundred times this sublime expression is articulated in Scripture. Two hundred times the Word of God points the believer to this crucial locution.
Biblical Declaration
In one magnificent consummate declaration, we are told the purpose of this “IN” – that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times, He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth, — IN HIM.” Ephesians 1:10. God Himself purposes and plans to sum up all things in Christ. God Himself determined that in the eternal, nothing has any place except, “IN HIM.”
Christocentric
The plan; the purpose; the resources; the times; the eternities are all in Him. All things are to be Christocentric. All things are to be summed up in Christ. It is not just life; acceptance; redemption and righteousness that are in Him, but the creation; our hope; spiritual blessings; consolation… and consummation – and Peace and Effectual Prayer and Strength and Riches are all “In Christ”.
Eternal Purpose
God’s eternal purposes center in the Mew creation, the promises, and the one body. It includes our escape from condemnation and those that are the dead In Christ too – Yes! and His Body, the church, are one in Him – and we are all complete in Him: for in Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him, Who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:11
Spiritual Truth
IN HIM you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; IN WHOM also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.” Ephesians 1:13 Through time and through eternity, this heavenly fact is expressed in many forms, Through the cross, this eternal reality is wrought in literal and experimental forms, but always, Always, ALWAYS the same principle emerges:- always, ALWAYS the same abiding, infinite, glorious, spiritual truth is manifested.
All in All
It is all about Jesus. It is all about Him because He is all in all – all in earth and the heavens too. The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament show His handiwork. There is no one to view the splendours in the far reaches of the universe.. yet they continue to shout of His glory day after day after day after day – and one day, the heavens also will be gathered up, in Christ.
Spiritual Blessings
Should not I who am a child of God, chosen before the foundation of the world.. should not I, as one of His chosen ones, lift up the Lord Jesus? Should not I who will demonstrate His grace to heavenly powers in eternity.. should not I thus lift up the name of Jesus? Should not I similarly sing forth His praises through my voice and my pen? Should not I who have been predestined to adoption by Jesus Christ to Himself – should not I rejoice in Him, according to the good pleasure of His will? Should not I proclaim His might, majesty and dominion and praise and wisdom? Should not I, who am blessed with all divine blessings in heavenly places in Christ – point to the One Who will one day be ALL in ALL?
Spiritual Truths
It is all about Christ and everything is to be in Christ. We have been planted together in the likeness of his death. He has Quickened us together with Christ. He has Raised us together in Christ Jesus. He has made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We are fitly framed together in Christ; Gathered together in Christ; Builded together in Christ; Knit together in Christ; Working together; Striving together; Perfected together in Him.
United in Him
Soon the whole church is to be united in Christ. Soon we are to be caught up together with Him in the cloud soon we are to live together with Him. Soon and very soon we will all be glorified together with Him -In Christ. I make no apologies for once again centring this devotional on -“Christ” Some years ago my son was challenged by students and staff at his Bible college:- “don’t you have anything else to talk other than Jesus?” he and his friends were asked. ”What else is there to talk about, but JESUS” was their very wise reply…

15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord:
16 Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.
17 I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the Lord.
18 Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the Lord‘s temple was laid, consider it.
19 Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.
20 And again the word of the Lord came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,
21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;
22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
23 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the Lord, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts.
