An Intimate Ministry

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God? You are not your own…

The Holy Spirit
There is a lot of misunderstanding about the beautiful person of the Holy Spirit. Many cults and false teachings consider Him to be an influence – an ‘IT’ and not a person. They talk of Him as an invisible active force – a kind of energy or a super ‘substance’. But the Holy Spirit is Deity. He is the third Person of the Trinity. He is fully God. And the indwelling Holy Spirit has been given to each believer as a gift from God..

Another Comforter
Christ was the disciples’ Helper, Comforter, Guard, and Guide while He was on earth.. but when He ascended into heaven, to sit on the throne of the Father, He sent us the Holy Spirit to be another Comforter – to be our ever-present Help in time of trouble.

Like Jesus
And the Helper that Christ sent was to be just like Himself – and to be with us forever. The Holy Spirit will be a Helper akin to that which the disciples experienced during Christ’s earthly sojourn – but He’ll remain alongside us all through life and into eternity.

Our Advocate
Jesus was the Paraclete / Paracletos while He was on earth – for His disciples. The Holy Spirit is now the Paraclete / Paracletos – for believers on earth today – and Paraclete means an Advocate – i.e. One that comes alongside – to help.

Christ’s Replacement
Today we have our indwelling Paraclete / Paracletos – to come alongside to help. No wonder Jesus said, It is expedient for you that I go away: because if I do not go away, then the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I do depart, I will send Him unto you.

Inner Ministry
I doubt the disciples could have imagined that Christ, going away as He did, would have resulted in something even better for them– for the Lord Jesus could only walk beside His disciples – while the Holy Spirit indwells the very heart of a believer. This intimate, inner ministry of the indwelling Spirit, surpasses our wildest thoughts.

A Divine Person
The Holy Spirit is equal in power, glory, and understanding to the Father and the Son. He is fully a Person – a Divine person with a perfect will – emotions and intellect. We actually have Deity living inside us to lead and to guide – to help and to comfort. The Creator of the universe has chosen to make you and me His personal residence.

Guide and Helper
Never let us forget Who we have dwelling within our heart, teaching and training us. Never mistake Him for a mere power or force – nor a kind of energy or influence. A force or influence does not have reasoning ability – nor make choices or decisions. Energy doesn’t have emotions, and a mere power cannot be grieved or insulted – but when we do not yield to His guiding voice, we can hurt or even quench the Holy Spirit.

Spirit of God
The Holy Spirit is an all-knowing Person, and He knows the deep things of God, for what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so, the things of God knows no man – but the Spirit of God. And we have the omniscient, omnipotent, eternal God indwelling our bodies… What amazing grace that God should live in me and that He should dwell in you.

Holy Mystery
Let us wonder at the mystery of the divine Person that has chosen to take up residence in our heart and become our Teacher, Advisor, Advocate, and Instructor and Who is leading and guiding us into all truth and most importantly – is at this moment conforming us into the image and likeness of the lovely Lord Jesus Christ, Himself.

1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
