THAT I MAY KNOW HIM

Philippians 3:10-12
10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death; 11 if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, if it is so that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus.

The passion of Paul’s life was that he would know Christ. That he would be intimate with Him in every way so that he could experience not only the power of His resurrection but the fellowship of His sufferings. Paul wanted the whole revelation of Jesus, not just the mountaintop experiences.

Though Paul is responsible for writing a huge chunk of the New Testament, he never considered that he had arrived. He was always hungry, always pursuing, always pressing on to the high calling of his Lord Jesus Christ. My prayer today is that we too, would share in the same passion that Paul had.

May the focus of our life be to know Christ in all that He is… in His power and in His suffering. May we be encouraged by the promise that Jesus gave us in Matthew 5:6 when He said… Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. May we all experience a greater infilling of the Spirit of the Son today as we keep our eyes fixed on Him.

Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
