IN THE SON IS LIFE

1 John 5:11-13
11 The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

While we will indeed live forever, eternal life does not describe an unending time frame. It describes a person. Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God is life itself. When we are joined to Jesus, we share in His life which happens to last forever!

There is nothing that we can do in our own self effort to generate life, to sustain life, or to earn life. That is why religion simply does not work. No amount of striving or performance will ever do what Jesus freely did on our behalf. The work of God is to simply believe in Jesus (John 6:29) and Jesus does the rest.

My prayer today is that we would see on a deeper level the finished work of our Elder Brother. There is nothing that we can do but simply believe, trust, cling to, and rely on our Lord and Savior. For in Him is life and His heart for us is to live an abundant, full, overflowing life here on earth and for eternity. …Simply because we are joined to Him!

John 10:10
The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.
