What If You Die Today?

Romans 3:23

Have you ever thought about that question?
People die every day and many of those deaths are totally unexpected.
Have you ever considered your eternal destiny?
If so, what conclusion did you reach?
Would you go to heaven?
Are you ready for eternity?

What must you do to be saved?

The Bible tells us:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27)

When you are judged, will you be found guilty or innocent? If you have ever told a lie, then you’re a liar. If you have ever taken anything, then you’re a thief. And, any lustful or immoral thought, makes you an adulterer at heart. On judgment day, you’d be proclaimed guilty of violating God’s laws.

But there is hope.
God is merciful and in His goodness and kindness He provided True Hope for you by sending His Son Jesus Christ to rescue you.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Jesus Christ is God.
Jesus came to earth and lived a perfect and sinless life. He then took the sins of the world upon Himself and paid the penalty for those sins by dying on the cross. On the cross, judgment for my sins, your sins, and the whole world’s sins, was poured out upon Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the price for our sins with His blood. He died and He was buried. Then on the third day He rose again, completely fulfilling prophecies made hundreds of years earlier.

Jesus offers you forgiveness for your sins, so you can have eternal life.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)

We can’t earn our salvation. We are saved by God’s grace alone, through faith in Jesus. If you don’t know Jesus, repent of your sins today. Confess your sins and ask Jesus for forgiveness. Turn from your sins and turn to Jesus. Trust that He loves you, that He paid the penalty for your sins, that He desires you to come to Him in faith, and that He will forgive you and give you eternal life.

Every one of us is only one heartbeat away from taking our last breath and stepping into eternity. Jesus promises that He has prepared a place for all who belong to Him.

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Jesus said…
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 14:1-4,6

Take a few minutes and search your heart. Think about the God of the universe, who loves you and came to earth to seek and save sinners. Jesus lived the life we cannot live and He died the death that we should die. And Jesus offers eternal life to all who come to Him in faith. Watch this short video and consider that God wants no one to perish, but for all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). That means YOU! He wants you to come to Him.
