Verse of the Day

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and will not be faint. —Isaiah 40:31

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

It is easy for us to live victoriously for the Lord when we soar on the wings of eagles. It can be exciting when we run and don’t grow weary in the work of the Lord, buoyed by his power and presence. But it often takes heroes to keep walking and not faint when trying times come. Keep on walking brother and sister. The Lord is there when you most fear he has forgotten you!

My Prayer…

Majestic God, whose voice holds together our universe, give those who can barely walk the strength to continue as they face the stress and assault of the evil one. I specifically want to pray for those I know personally who are facing trying times. Please, dear Lord, give them strength and meet their most pressings needs. Through Jesus, who conquered Satan, sin and death, and in the power of his holy name I pray. Amen.

  1. Isaiah 40:31
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

What a glorious assurance we find in this verse! To those of us whose hope is built on the Lord Jesus Christ, and therefore on His righteousness, we will have renewed strength to navigate the problems that pop up in our day to day lives.
And not only to just “muddle” through those troubles, but to “soar on wings like eagles” above those disturbances, knowing that our God is able to bring us through in a mighty way!

Notice how it says first that we will “run and not grow weary”, then “walk and not faint”. When we are faced with temptation to sin we are to RUN from it (1Timothy 6:11,1Corinthians 10:14). We are to waste no time in putting distance between us and whatever is tempting us! To linger and think about giving in to that temptation will more than likely end in disobedience to God and disaster.

Then we are told that we will “walk and not faint”, the Christian WALK is not a quick adventure. To live our lives for Christ takes perseverance doesn’t it? It is a constant vigilance to stay in His Word and apply that word to our daily walk for Him. In Romans 12:1-2 we are told to present our bodies (lives) as living sacrifices to God and to not conform to the ways of this world. This is not a one time happening like our salvation, this is a day in day out, year in, year out commitment to live in obedience to God. And God has promised us that when we abide in Him, we will not faint in our walk, but will have the strength that only He can provide for us through His indwelling Holy Spirit that we received upon our salvation.

What a wonderful position we have before God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ! Have you placed your faith in Him and His bloodshed for your sins? If not please do so today, God loves you and wants you to spend eternity with Him in heaven when you leave this world. John 5:24, Romans 10:9-10, and Ephesians 2:8-9 are some verses to look up and can lead you to Christ if you are willing to go to Him, what will your choice be? Eternal life through Jesus, or rejection of Him resulting in eternal death in hell when you die? Choose Jesus, choose LIFE!

Father God thank You for sending Jesus to die for me, thank You for giving me strength to “soar”, “run”, and “walk” through this life. I love You so and give you praise and honor this day Abba, Amen!
