Verse of the Day

I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to me — the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. —Acts 20:24

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

How important is grace? Paul said that telling about that grace was more important to him than his life! In fact, that was his life after his conversion to Jesus!

My Prayer…

Almighty God, Holy Father, thank you for your lavish grace demonstrated and fully expressed in sending Jesus to die for me. As your child, and in thanks to your sacrificial gift, I pledge to you my life, my love, and my all. Through Jesus. Amen.

Bible References

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

  1. I love how Paul’s goal was to finish his course for Christ well! You know it really doesn’t matter how we start out in life, it’s how we finish that counts to God. He has given each and every one of His children a certain path to follow in this time here on earth, the key is to stay on that path and accomplish, through the Holy Spirit that indwells us, all that He has for us to do. Is your goal to go where He leads, is mine? It certainly should be, for He created us and knows what is best for us at all times.

The task that Christ gave to Paul of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace, is the very same task for us today. How do we testify this gospel of grace; it has to start in our own hearts and minds. One of the attributes that a child of God should have is to be gracious, when we are gracious with others we are being an example of Christ to them in our actions. God is so gracious with us, isn‘t He? So Lord help us to extend some grace to those around us in our daily walk.

The other way to testify God’s grace is to actually open our mouths and tell people the gospel of Jesus Christ. Tell them how God sent His only Son Jesus to this earth to die for their sins so that they may have eternal life by placing their faith in His bloodshed for the forgiveness of those sins on the cross at Calvary. So many out there are trying to earn their way to God, they need to understand that we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), and that there is no work we can ever do to earn salvation. There is much false teaching and teachers in our world preaching that if people give enough money, or get baptized, or go to church every Sunday, they will go to heaven. We who know the truth according to God’s Word are responsible before God to tell it to those who are needing to hear it. What a privilege we have been given by Christ to be able to share Him with the world. This should be our purpose as we get up each and every day, to spread God’s grace to all we come into contact with!

Thank You Father God for sending Jesus to shed His blood for the forgiveness of my sin. Thank You Jesus for willingly laying down Your life so that I can spend eternity with You in heaven, I love You so my Redeemer and I praise You this day, Amen!
