The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. —Zephaniah 3:17

So God likes to sing too! He even likes to share his lullabies with those he loves. Not only is God Abba Father, he is also like a mother. He gently rocks and quiets his children with his affectionate care.

My Prayer…

O God, I pray that when the storms of life rage against me, I will remember these words and find refuge, comfort and peace in your sheltering care. Make me aware, O God, of your singing in my life as you make your salvation more clear to me each day. Through my Savior Jesus I pray. Amen.

  1. Zephaniah 3:17
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

The prophet Zephaniah is speaking in this verse of the restored remnant of Israel that is to come. Verses 14-20, they are giving their song of rejoicing, and praising Jehovah for His mighty deliverance, relishing in His love for His own people.

This passage can also speak to those of us today who belong to Jesus Christ. The Lord God loves us every bit as much as He does His chosen race of Israel. When we placed our faith in the blood of His one and only Son Jesus Christ, we became His dearly loved children, joint-heirs with Christ Himself (Romans 8:17).

Now as we go through this life, we have our Mighty Warrior right by our side day by day.
He loves us as no other ever could and He takes great delight in us as we do His will and obey His Word. There is no rebuking from Him when we walk in His love, He is tender hearted and compassionate with us….full of mercy and grace!

We can all remember a time in our lives when we were away from the Lord and were rebuked or disciplined by Him in some way to bring us back. This is not a pleasant feeling, and it is not meant to be. Just as we discipline our own children, so God does with us at times because of His great love for us (Proverbs 3:12). But as soon as we repent our wrong doing to Him and confess that we have sinned against Him (1John 1:9), we are restored to fellowship and there is great rejoicing! Our salvation was never in question, we were still His children for that is eternal, but our relationship with Him was not sweet when there was unconfessed sin in between us.

The purpose of heart for every true child of God should be to live a life that is obedient to Him out of our love for Him, for when we truly love someone our desire is to please them. We have all the power we could ever need to do this through the indwelling Holy Spirit, but the choice is ours daily as to whether we live in obedience or disobedience to God. Whether we give the victory to God or satan. So, who will you give the victory to today?

Thank You Father God for sending Jesus to pay my sin debt. Thank You for all Your care and keeping of me, and for Your endless love and compassion for me. I love You so Abba Father and give You all praise this day, Amen!

Verse of the Day

Amen.
