Verse of the Day

You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. —Psalm 139:13-14

Psalm 139:13-14

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

I am made by God! You are made by God. Just as surely as ANYone has been made by God, we have been made by God. He knew us before anyone knew we were there. He had plans for us before anyone planned our arrival. And he made us well! How do we know? Look at all God has made.

My Prayer…

God Almighty, my Savior and Redeemer, thank you for knowing me before I was able to know. Thank you for choosing my life and giving it to me. Thank you for giving me the gifts, abilities and talents that you have given me. Now please help me live as if I was made special by you, because I am! Through Jesus I pray. Amen.

  1. Psalm 139:13-14
For You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Here in this passage, we have even further proof that human life begins in the womb, not at first breath. This is not the popular stance to take in our world today, is it? Scientists would have us believe that the baby in the womb is a mere “fetus”. My mother-in-law was an O.B. nurse for many years, she was there when countless women found out that they were indeed pregnant, none of them came out from the Drs. Office excitedly telling people they were expecting a “fetus”, they all said they were expecting a BABY! It seems easier, I suppose, for women to abort a fetus, rather than a baby, but the truth of the matter is that it is a baby. It is a human being that God has already knit together!

David is looking back on how God has always had His eye on him, has always taken care of him, and on how wonderful the works of God truly are. God had rescued David from his enemies several times, and would time and time again. His confidence in God is rock solid in this passage, I am sure he was thinking on how God had delivered him from Goliath and the Philistines, that surely was the work of God. He had much to praise God for, and so do we. Can’t you just look back over your life and see the care and keeping of God on you? I know I certainly can! Even in the very tough and trying times, I can see God’s hand at work, taking my sorrow and turning it into joy, my mistakes into successes, and my defeat into triumph. How can anyone go through life without God, what a miserable existence it would be.

Keeping in mind that we know His works are fully wonderful, shouldn’t that make us eager to obey Him in our lives? Shouldn’t we desire to spend time with Him each day through prayer and meditation upon His Word the Bible? A big resounding “YES”, we absolutely should! After all that He has done for us, surely we can spend time at His feet each day in honor and praise of Him who loved us so.

Thank You Father God for never leaving me, for always loving me, and for sending Jesus to shed His blood for the forgiveness of my sins, I love You and I praise You this day Abba, Amen!

Amen.

Amen.
