Verse of the Day

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. —Galatians 3:26-27

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

What are you wearing today? I hope you are clothed with Christ. Anything else is simply out of style by heaven’s standards, no matter what designer fashions you may be wearing. You can be clothed with Christ by surrendering your life to Jesus as your Savior through faith; believe that he is God’s Son who died for you, trust that he rose from the dead to give you life, confess Christ as your Lord and Savior trusting him for your salvation, and share with him in his death, burial, and resurrection through baptism. He promises to send his Spirit to live inside you and to forgive you all of your sins. You will be God’s child and have a home waiting for you in heaven. For those of us who are Christians, these thoughts are a reminder of what God has done for us and what he expects of us. If you are not a Christian, the world doesn’t have to be a cold and lonely place; the Lord Jesus can be with you everywhere you go if you will respond to him.

My Prayer…

Father, thank you that you provided a way for making me your child and for clothing me in your righteousness. Thank you for making it possible for me to call you Father and to have Jesus as my older brother. Thank you, dear Father, for Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.

  1. Galatians 3:26-28
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have been clothed with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

The church at Galatia was under the false thinking that there were works that one could do to earn salvation. Therefore Paul was correcting there wrong thinking by pointing out through the entire book of Galatians that there is not one thing a person can do to earn salvation, it is strictly by faith in Christ Jesus alone that we are saved.

Verse 24 of Galatians 3 says, “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified through faith.”
Then when the Apostle Paul gets to our first verse for today in 26, he says it again, “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” This is a private thing that happens in a persons heart when they accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, there is no work they can do, it is by faith alone that they come to Christ and are saved.

Then he states that all who are baptized into Christ have been clothed with Christ, or as the King James puts it they have “put on Christ”. This is a public declaration of their union with Christ. Just as a soldier puts on a uniform to identify himself with a certain country and obeys the laws of that country, so when we are baptized in water publicly, we are identifying to the world that we belong to Christ. Our walk in the world now will be as a child of God, obeying His Word and purposing to live by His statutes.

Lastly our passage speaks of us all being one in Christ after we are saved. God loves men and women, slave and free, and Jew and gentile the same. One is not loved more than the other. This would have been scandalous teaching to Jewish people in Paul’s day. Women, slaves, and gentiles were second-class citizens in their eyes with very little rights. So Paul had to address this issue and set the record straight as to how God viewed the matter. God considers ALL who place their faith in Christ His children. What happy news this must have been for many!

It is still good news for us today. We are children of the God of the universe! It matters not where we started in life, it is how we finish that counts. You may have been born in a palace or a ghetto, God only cares that you place your faith in the precious blood of His Son Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins (Romans 3:25, 1 Peter 1:18-19). After you have done that you are His child with all the blessings and privileges that come with being a child of the King, the greatest of which is spending eternity in heaven with Him when you leave this earth!

Thank You Jesus for coming to this world and dying for my sins so that I can spend eternity with You. Thank You for redeeming me to God and making me His dearly loved child. I love You so my Savior, the Author and Finisher of my faith, Amen!
